It’s always a pleasure to shoot in Scotland and as its St Andrews Day today, I’ve been reminded of the time spent in the highlands of North West Scotland whilst shooting an ad for BP with Saatchi and Saatchi which involved transporting a full size replica of a BP petrol station sign, strapped to the roof of my Landrover to shoot it in dramatic landscape by a winding road. Once the clients and crew returned south, my desire for extending my stay was fulfilled as myself and my assistant explored further north into Sutherland. We met and photographed a salmon farmer who lived next to a small primary school in this beautiful location where he was educated and which he later purchased.
The photograph was nominated by The Association of Photographers (UK) judges and printed on the cover of the annual awards book. The film company Fuji used the image in their press ads with the copy line referring to the film ‘Local Hero’, not me!
